Here are not 10, but 12 valuable yet free tips for living a longer and healthier life (see below)
1) Get Stressed
Although too much stress is not good for you, according to a study conducted in the USA, research results suggest that a little stress is good; for example, findings reveal that women experiencing a little stress during pregnancy, have babies that are more advanced by the age of two years, than babies born to mothers who are more laid-back during pregnancy - the theory behind this finding is that even though too much cortisol restricts development, a little of it helps the organs to develop
2) Use Spice
According to research findings from the University of Cincinnati, tumeric (a spice often used in curry) helps suppress and inflammatory and pain-causing enzyme called COX-2; it does this while disolving gallstones, relieving inflamed problems like arthritis, helping digestion and boosting your immune system
3) Experience Religion
If you want to live longer, meet with others for spiritual reasons, because researchers at the University of California found that individuals who went to church every week lived an average of two and a half years loner than those who did not attend religious services
4) Off Load
Share your feelings with at least one other person who is warm towards you and that you trust; research suggests that off-loading emotions is good for you
5) Make Love
You can extend your life by eight years, say researchers at Queens University Belfast and Bristol University, by having two orgasms each week (doing this with your loving life-partner is advocated); DHEA, which is a hormone that strengthens the immune system, is increased when you have an orgasm
6) Sing
Researchers in the USA found that senior citizens who belonged to a choir had less depression, not as many falls, fewer medicines and thirty less visits to a medical doctor than those in the control grop (similar citizens who did not sing regularly); other research also connects regular singing with not being stressy and a lowering of blood pressure - so if you sing you are on the right track
7) Express Anger
Learn to express your anger appropriately, and especially without violence; according to Harvard University researchers, doing this reduces your risk of dying prematurely - their research showed that people who suppressed their anger were 50% more likely to have a fatal heart attack and were at a statistically significant risk of suffering a stroke
9) Laugh
Laugh a lot because research indicates that this is good for you
10) Be Cold
If you want to live to over 100 have a cold dip or shower - several investigations show that a tiny amount of stress such as a little too much heat or cold, is of benefit to animals kept in a laboratory; the natural predators of cancer are white blood cells (WBC) and researchers at the University of Virginia claim that cold stress decreases tumours due to increased activation of WBC
11) Consume Hard Water
Research reveals that you are less likely to suffer a heart attack if you live in a hard water area
12) Have Healthy Gums
Your body creates an imune response if you have gingivitis (gum disease), which causes inflammation throughout your body making it more likely for you to have a heart attack, so keep your gums in good condition - research findings from Harvard show that men who had less than 25 teeth over a twelve year period, suffered approximately 60% more strokes than those with 32 teeth (most teeth are lost because of gum infection).
